The Midwifery-Led Units (MLUs) at Fernandez Hospital, Bogulkunta and Stork Home, Banjara Hills are specialised birthing units where professional midwives are the lead caregivers. Our midwives are trained to global standards and serve mothers with respectful, humanized maternity care.

Breech and VBAC clinics – Saturdays 9 am – 1:30 pm
Stork Home MLU – Mondays and Fridays 9 am – 2 pm
Miyapur MLU – Saturdays 8 am – 2 pm
The labour rooms at Stork Home offer:
Nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen is an option for pain relief in labour. It is also called laughing gas. It is safe for the mother and the baby.
Immersion in warm water during labour is offered as a comfort measure, providing relaxation and pain relief.
A warm shower soothes the mother and helps in speeding up labour. It also helps the mother in the late pushing phase.
Midwives at Fernandez Foundation are equipped to help and encourage the mother through her preferred birthing position.
Oil massage increases blood flow and may help the tissues and skin stretch with more ease, but with less pain during childbirth.
During pregnancy, the use of massage rollers can help decrease fluid retention, which typically occurs during the third trimester in the mother’s feet, ankles, & legs.
The birthing rooms at Bogulkunta are decorated in warm colours that help the mother feel calm and peaceful.
Aromatherapy is used during labour and birthing to help manage pain and anxiety that the mother experiences. It has a very calming effect on birthing mothers.
Additional Labour Support believes strongly in the natural course of birth and aims to reduce dependency on medical interventions.
At the birthing centre, the midwife will help you through a water birth whereby at least part of your labour, delivery or both happen while you’re in a birth pool filled with warm water.
The doulas at Fernandez Foundation are trained to advise, inform, and offer emotional and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and after the birth of her child. Our doulas view their role as nurturing and protecting a woman’s memory of the birth experience.
